Insulation Services in Norfolk / Brant / Brantford

Home owners of old, rural homes can face many setbacks during a renovation project. Even installing new insulation has its own complications; for example, plaster walls and vermiculite insulation cannot be removed without taking the proper precautions. These building materials could contain asbestos. As such, plaster and vermiculite materials must be tested for asbestos. If asbestos is detected, you cannot insulate your home until these cancer-causing fibers are safely disposed of. You may be knowledgeable in many aspects of home maintenance, but do not remove asbestos-riddled building materials by yourself. Leave this job to well-trained professionals who have the expertise to safely remove all affected materials without risking cross contamination to the rest of your home. In the Norfolk-Brant region, Insta-Insulation can safely extract vermiculite insulation in old, rural homes if the asbestos level is equal to or below .5%. Insta-Insulation offers free insulation consultations to residents in the Norfolk-Brant region. Please call us at 1-800-668-0311 or e-mail us at info@instainsulation.com.

Insta-Insulation offers other insulation services besides insulation removal.

Insulation Services

Insta-Insulation has been installing, upgrading, and removing home insulation for over 25 years. Blown cellulose and spray foam systems are available for insulation installations and upgrades.

We are Bryan Baeumler’s official insulation contractor, and we have enjoyed over 10 years of service with Mike Holmes.

Home Attic Insulation and Attic Upgrades

With home attic insulation, Insta-Insulation always follows insulation best practices, whether we are following traditional or modern methods. With traditional systems, we will not use a can of spray foam or polyurethane kit after shifting existing insulation. If you live in an older home and want to tighten the attic deck using a traditional method, we will remove all existing insulation before the upgrade. This will be followed by installing new soffit vents and adding a layer of spray foam. To finish it off, we will top up the spray foam with blown cellulose. This ensures your attic is properly sealed and insulated. A modern approach to attic insulation upgrades is the hot roof system. It is a 2-in-1 approach in which two pounds of spray foam is applied to the entire underside of the attic roof. At Insta-Insulation, we have the expertise to know which insulation system will best suit your home needs.

Blown Attic Insulation

Blown cellulose is one of the attic insulation upgrade systems we trust the most. It provides superior coverage on irregular surfaces, and it has no joints. With this insulation system, sound transmission is reduced, and as the outdoor temperature oscillates between hot and cold, cellulose maintains its top-notch performance. At Insta-Insulation, we use the Climatizer Plus system, which is cellulose newsprint that has been treated with fire retardant. This fire retardant does much more than offer fire control; it also prevents mold growth. As such, the Climatizer Plus system is a safe, cost-effective solution for your attic insulation needs.

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam is an insulation system that wears many hats. An insulator and a sealant, spray foam protects the building envelope by controlling heat loss and air leakage. Unlike fiberglass which loses its R-value with time, spray foam retains its extraordinary resistance to heat loss almost indefinitely. In addition to this, spray foam can be applied to many areas in the home and offers coverage in areas which fiberglass has more difficulty protecting. Moreover, spray foam has a higher return on investment than fiberglass. Spray foam can lower your energy bills up to 20%, and it also increases the resale value of your home. When considering spray foam over other insulation processes, there are a few factors that contribute to overall price of insulation: total spray area, R-value or thickness of spray foam, as well as the amount of masking or covering. Here at Insta-Insulation, we take the environment seriously. By 2020, all spray foam insulation systems in Ontario must comply with new environmental standards developed by the government, and the system we use already does.

Insulation Removal

Did you recently inspect your attic and find a nasty surprise or two, such as animal droppings and nesting critters? Is your roof leaking, causing water damage to your existing insulation? Have mold and smoke damage overtaken your attic space? Are you concerned that your vermiculite insulation may contain asbestos? Are you looking to make structural and electrical renovations to your home? If you said yes to any of these questions, you may need to consider removing your existing insulation to ensure your home is healthy and safe for you and your loved ones. Regardless of the reason, Insta-Insulation has the necessary equipment and knowledge to non-invasively remove your old insulation and replace it with new insulation. In most cases, this process takes no longer than one day. Please note, Insta-Insulation can help you remove vermiculite insulation if the level of asbestos is equal to or below .5%.

Mold Removal

The attic is particularly susceptible to mold because this is the place where hot air meets cold air, and in homes without properly installed attic insulation, this leads to condensation. As condensation accumulates, the potential for mold increases. Once you see mold in your home, take immediate action. After all, mold can spread within 48-72 hours. At Insta-Insulation, we work with a mold remediation company during the mold removal process, which usually takes three to four days to complete. In addition to removing the contaminated insulation from your attic, we will take measures to ensure mold doesn’t return. After this, we will re-insulate your attic back up to building code or greater.

Under Slab Insulation for Concrete Floors (Insta-Panels)

In homes insulated with high R-value materials, heat loss can still occur, especially in basements with cold concrete floors. This happens because heat moves from hot to cold. Insulated floors are one method by which to prevent heat from exiting your home through the basement. Our approved floor insulation system, Insta-Panels, can solve this problem. Our insulated panels are R-11 rigid polyurethane foam sheathed between steel or fiberglass. These insulated panels are positioned under concrete slabs to cut down on heat loss and condensation accumulation. Because moisture is kept at bay, you will have no reason to worry about mold. As such, under slab insulation for concrete floors using our Insta-Panels system is a great way to safeguard your family’s comfort and health.

Insulated Sheds

An insulated shed is the smartest solution by which to protect farming equipment and outdoor seasonal vehicles from rust-causing precipitation and condensation. Fully insulated sheds constructed by Insta-Sheds deliver safe, dependable storage. Wet snow and high winds will have a tough time bending, warping, or even collapsing the durable steel roof system. If you are worried that your snowmobile won’t fit through the door, don’t be concerned. Single and double door options are available.
