How Do They Work?

Thermal insulation is one of the most important factors in achieving energy efficiency. Foam insulation works primarily to slow the flow of heat through a building envelope, but it can also seal, prevent outside drafts and air leakage from unconditioned spaces and thereby improve indoor air quality. Insulation not only saves money by reducing heating and cooling costs but it also is a key in achieving comfortable living and working spaces.

Rule of Thumb: HEAT FOLLOWS COLD

Heat is transferred from the higher temperature area to the lower temperature area through a combination of conduction, convection and radiation. So, using INSTA-PANELS will insulate to keep the heat in the winter and out in the summer.

What is R-Value?

R-value represents a material's thermal resistance. The higher the R-value, the better the materials performance as an insulator. Therefore, R-20 is a better insulator than an R-10.

However, R-value is not the only important factor for insulation. One must also look at the

  • Moisture resistance quality
  • Air-barrier quality
  • Mould-resistance quality and
  • Long term thermal resistance (how long will that insulation still have all these qualities and R-value)

INSTA-PANELS protects and insulates against all these factors
